Ohm Studio's blog

Rev. 71285 released
3 December 2012
  • New: Audio Patterns now have handles to adjust their Fade-in, Volume and Fade-out values. Select one (or more) Audio Patterns, go to Edit mode, then click and drag a handle to edit its value, or double-click it to set it back to its default value.

  • Improvement: the new overhauled server architechture provides faster project loading/unloading and project "isolation" (if a project crashes or takes a long time to load, other projects should no longer be blocked or slowed down).

  • Improvement: the Volume parameter of Audio Patterns is now expressed in dB (rather than in %) and can now be used to boost the level of a Sample above its original value.

  • Improvement: Aux Racks can now be renamed and freely moved inside the Mixer view.

  • Improvement: mouse cursors have been updated to adopt either a Windows or a Mac "look and feel". Choose between the white (Windows) or black (Mac) cursor theme in your Display preferences.

  • Fix: fixed several bugs with the mouse cursor image not refreshing properly (e.g. the Eraser tool could sometimes be displayed instead of the Arrow tool)

  • Fix: fixed a bug that caused the status indicator of the Chat panel not to work (i.e. it was always green).

Sad
29 November 2012

As you can guess by the pretty explicit image above, this week's theme is about sadness. Because quite frankly, I am fed up with happy people. What is it with you, happy people? Don't you know there are such things as mosquitos? We live in an ugly world. Let them know.

How to be a part of it?

Install Ohm Studio if not done yet, set up audio, MIDI & VST path at your convenience, check the basics, then connect this Friday between 6 and 12 PM GMT (beware of the summer time offset!). Find "Red_Force" or Jamie in the chat list and send me this code phrase "cry me a river" (or scream it on the channel for maximum fun). Despite possible latency, I will quickly introduce you to a new project with other sad people.

Note: if you don't know what those collabs are or why they're so cool you'll be mad to miss them, check out that vid (that is full of unpleasant happinnes, you've been warned):

One key II
22 November 2012

What, again? It's your fault, people: you did too good on last one. Beside, that rule was made to allow this kind of shameless rerun, so don't look at me with those eyes.

Here's the updated rule: make a project using one key that will use (at least but not exclusively) a, c and f in a scale of your choice. People not concerned with being in tune (drummers, producers, shower vocalists) can laugh at the others' efforts.

Install Ohm Studio if not done yet, set up audio, MIDI & VST path at your convenience, check the basics, then connect this Friday between 6 and 12 PM GMT (beware of the summer time offset!). Find "Red_Force" or Jamie in the chat list and send me this code phrase "fac you, Red!" (or scream it on the channel for maximum fun). Despite possible latency, I will quickly introduce you to a new project with other people who will all share our unconditionnal love for the a, the c and the f.

Note: if you don't know what those collabs are or why they're so cool you'll be mad to miss them, check out that vid:

Note: the song here was actually done for last "one key" event...

OhmBoyz
14 November 2012

What's this diagram? History, people! That's the design of OhmBoyz, Ohm Force's first and still heavily used FX! Yes, the same one we're also including in Ohm Studio.

If you think about it, there are not so many pluginss released in early 2000 that are still on the market - even if you're not familiar with it you can guess it's a special one. And this Friday, you'll have every chances to know why because that's the theme for the collab: do a 48 bars track that uses at least one OhmBoyz somewhere. You can use an existing preset or you can make your own. You can watch tutorials on Youtube (some surprises here for the daring ones!).

So, how to be a part of it?

Install Ohm Studio if not done yet, set up audio, MIDI & VST path at your convenience, check the basics, then connect this Friday between 6 and at least 12 PM GMT (we'll try to get further with some help). This is the hour to be at the start of a project but you can complete on the project as long as you want. Find "Red_Force" (or if I am not here, Jamie57lp, assuming he recovered from that Sandy girl) in the chat list and send me/him this code phrase "Hello... Hello... Hello... Hello..." (or scream it on the channel for maximum fun). Despite possible latency, we will quickly introduce you to a new project with other people who will all share your passion for making a better world through commercials.

See you on Friday at the echo chamber!

The Score: Space
8 November 2012

Ok, trying something new here. Following our recent Halloween event Herman sent me this:

As you may have guessed, it's one of the tracks from that event turned into a video thanks to the numerous zombie movies that you can find on Youtube.

This Friday we'll do that on purpose. Here is another vid but this time I'll ask you to cut the sound before watching it.

Simple: let's make a soundtrack for this. Note that if you play the video with the sound, you'll notice that's exactly what the poster did.
Quite obviously there are many, many, many ways to do this.

So, how to be a part of it?

Install Ohm Studio if not done yet, set up audio, MIDI & VST path at your convenience, check the basics, then connect this Friday between 4 and at least 12 PM GMT (we'll try to get further with some help). This is the hour to be at the start of a project but you can complete on the project as long as you want. Find "Red_Force" (or if I am not here, Jamie57lp, assuming he recovered from that Sandy girl) in the chat list and send me/him this code phrase "Use the Ohm Force, Luke" (or scream it on the channel for maximum fun). Despite possible latency, we will quickly introduce you to a new project with other people who will all share your passion for making a better world through commercials.

Songs from the latest event (and their heirs) can be heard using the search box top right "75BPM") .

See you on Friday at the movie theater!
